日本のメディア関係者の皆様へ

私はイサーム・ガラールと申します。

エジプト出身で、さまざまな分野においてエジプトを紹介する番組の企画・制作を専門としています。

1992年からこの分野で活動しており、これまでに多くのエジプト関連番組を制作する企業や団体と協力してまいりました。

私は、日本を第二の故郷のように感じています。

日本は私に多くの機会を与えてくれ、誇りと喜びに満ちたキャリアを築くことができました。

また、個人的にも文化的にも多くのことを学ばせていただきました。

この場を借りて、日本の皆様に心から感謝申し上げます。

さて、日本のメディア関係者の皆様にお願いがあります。

エジプトの歴史、文化、伝統、習慣、さらにはその他の分野に関する番組を制作される際には、ぜひ私たちエジプト人に協力の機会を与えていただければと思います。

エジプトについて深く理解し、正確に伝えることができるのは、やはり私たちエジプト人です。

もちろん、日本の皆様が同じ日本人と仕事をしたいと考えるのは理解できます。

しかし、私たちエジプト人の中にも、日本語を習得し、日本の文化や習慣を深く理解し、日本の一流大学を卒業した者がいます。

私もその一人です。

そして、日本語を生かして仕事をし、生計を立てています。

残念ながら、私がこれまでサポートしてきた人々の中には、私の右腕のように信頼していたにもかかわらず、私の競争相手になろうとし、私の実績を超えることができなかった人もいました。

そのことは、私と仕事をした方々が証明してくれています。

最後に、これまで私を信頼し、一緒に仕事をしてくださった皆様に心から感謝いたします。

33年以上にわたり、皆様とともに歩んできたことを誇りに思います。

今後も、皆様のご活躍をお祈りしております。

35,000-year-old human skeleton to Egypt

Following comprehensive diplomatic efforts between Egypt and Belgium, Leuven University has agreed to return a 35,000-year-old human skeleton to Egypt which it has held since 1980.

The skeleton came into the possession of the university according to the division law. The law allowed foreign missions to have a share in the artefacts they discovered at archaeological sites in Egypt.

Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh Eldamaty explained that the skeleton was unearthed in the Nazlet Khater area of the Upper Egyptian city of Sohag during an excavation by the Leuven University archaeological mission.

After diplomatic efforts, he continued, the university agreed to return the skeleton because it is a very important artefact in the history of Egypt.

Ali Ahmed, head of the Stolen Antiquities Recovery Section, told Ahram Online that the skeleton will arrive next week and a committee is now studying how to put it on display at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.

Fifteen Wooden Plates from Khufu Boat transferred to GEM

Fifteen Wooden plates from the second boat of King Khufu were transferred Wednesday 12-11-2014 to the Grand Egyptian Museum to be displayed there after its inauguration.

  Minister of Antiquities Dr. Eldamaty stated that the pieces were restored and fortified in their original location at the Pyramids Area before they were transferred to the museum's store room to be assembled and installed later on then displayed in a special hall.

Eldamaty added that the first Khufu boat is displayed in a special museum near the Pyramids and the second display will emphasize the importance of the two boats that witness a glorious era of the Egyptian history.

The Director of the Second Khufu Boat project, Afify Rohayyem said that the wooden plates of the boat exist in 13 layers. The plates transferred to GEM were chosen out of 200 pieces extracted from the first layer. The remaining pieces are being restored now in the restoration labs in situ before transferring them to GEM.
